Posted on April 26, 2022 in by kcoughlin

So you’re thinking about adding solar panels to your home. Congratulations! It is a great way to save money while helping out our environment. No matter where you are in the process – from researching solar to getting ready for installation – you no doubt are thinking about what your solar panel payment options are. There are plenty! And, just like our solar panel installation, when we work out payment options with our customers, we completely tailor it to your unique needs.

How We Determine the Best Solar Panel Payment Options for You

solar panel payment optionsNo two families are alike. Perhaps you have a lot of money tucked away and minimal expenses, or you may be living on a tight budget. No matter where you are on this spectrum, we can almost guarantee that there is a solar panel payment option that works for you. Our goal is always to save you money. We begin our process by analyzing your kilowatt usage over the course of a year. In other words, the amount of energy your household uses. From there, we build a custom solar panel system that aims to offset your FPL cost by as close to 100% as we can get it.

Once we have your system built and ready to go, our solar experts will sit down and talk to you about payment options. We break down the different scenarios and what keeps you financially comfortable. In order for you to know what you might be getting into, we are going to break down some of the most common solar panel payment options below!

Common Solar Panel Payment Options

In the following common scenarios, we are going to list some of your options – from the smallest upfront expense to the largest. And guess what – the smallest upfront payment is $0 out of pocket!

  • No money down financing. This is a popular option for many of our customers. It requires no upfront cost, and ranging from as little as 5 up to 30 years. We aim to keep your monthly payments less than you currently pay to FPL. If this option makes you balk because your credit score is less than amazing, no worries. We are proud to partner with Ygrene, who offers no money down financing based on your home’s value – not your credit score!
  • Putting some money down. This is a nice in-between option for those of you who have some savings to spare and want to reduce your monthly payments even more. Just like buying a new car, the more money you put down, the lower your monthly payment will be. We are happy to discuss how much you feel comfortable paying up front, and how much that amount will affect your monthly payment.
  • Paying in full. While more rare, some families have the ability to pay for their solar panels in full. This means that once we build your solar system, the final cost is determined and paid up front. After that, all you have to worry about on a monthly basis is a small FPL connection fee, for most customers.
